जब जब पतझड़ में पेड़ों से पीले पीले पत्ते

पीपल के सूखे पत्ते सा
लहराता-लहराता मेरे लॉन में आकर उतरेगा

Mere Lawn Mein Aakar Girte Hain

Come drifting down to scatter across the silence of my lawn)

Raat Ko Chhat Par Jaake Mein Aakash Ko Takta Rehta Hoon
(I climb up to the rooftop in the quiet of the night, gazing endlessly at the sky)

Lagta Hai Kamzor Sa Peela Chaand Bhi Shayad
Peepal Ke Sookhe Patte Sa
Lehrata-Lehrata Mere Lawn Mein Aakar Utrega
(And it feels as though even the frail, pale moon up there, growing weak and weary
Might break away like a dry, withered leaf of a sacred peepal tree
And come swaying through the dark air to land softly in my lonely lawn)
