Ibn-e-Insha Ghazal Aur To Koi Bas Na Chalega Hijr Ke Dard Ke Maro Ka Lyrics

Aur To Koi Bas Na Chalega Hijr Ke Dard Ke Maaron Ka
Subah Ka Hona Doobhar Kar Den Rasta Rok Sitaron Ka

(Nothing else lies in the power of those struck by separation’s pain,
Except to make dawn hard to come, by blocking the stars’ path.)

Jhoothe Sikkon Mein Bhi Utha Dete Hain Aksar Sachcha Maal
Shaklen Dekh Ke Sauda Karna Kaam Hai In Banjaron Ka

(For counterfeit coins they often hand over genuine goods;
These wandering traders strike their bargains by reading faces.)

Apni Zubaan Se Kuch Na Kahenge Chup Hi Rahenge Aashiq Log
Tum Se To Itna Ho Sakta Hai Poochho Haal Bechaaron Ka

(Lovers will say nothing; in silence they will stay,
But this much you can do: ask after these poor souls.)

Ek Zara Si Baat Thi Jis Ka Charcha Pahuncha Gali Gali
Hum Gumnamon Ne Phir Bhi Ehsaan Na Maana Yaaron Ka

(A trifling matter whose tale travelled lane to lane;
Yet we, the nameless, never thanked our friends for it.)

Dard Ka Kehna Cheekh Utho Dil Ka Taqaza Waz’a Nibhao
Sab Kuch Sehna Chup Chup Rehna Kaam Hai Izzat-Daaron Ka

(Pain says, cry out loud; the heart says, keep your dignity;
To bear it all and stay silent is the way of the respectable.)

Jis Gypsy Ka Zikr Hai Tum Se Dil Ko Usi Ki Khoj Rahi
Yun To Hamare Shehar Mein Aksar Mela Laga Nigaaron Ka

(The gypsy of whom I speak, my heart searched for her alone,
Though our city was often a fair of beauties.)

‘Insha’ Ji Ab Ajnabiyon Mein Chain Se Baaqi Umr Kate
Jin Ki Khatir Basti Chhodi Naam Na Lo Un Pyaaron Ka

(O Insha, may the rest of your life pass in peace among strangers;
Do not speak the names of those beloveds for whom you left your town.)
