मोहब्बत की कच्ची दीवार
लिपी हुई, पुती हुई
फिर भी इसके पहलू से
रात एक टुकड़ा टूट गिरा

बिल्कुल जैसे एक सुराख़ हो गया
दीवार पर दाग़ पड़ गया

यह दाग़ आज रूँ रूँ करता,
या दाग़ आज होंठ बिसूरे
यह दाग़ आज ज़िद करता है…
यह दाग़ कोई बात न माने

टुकुर टुकुर मुझको देखे,
अपनी माँ का मुँह पहचाने
टुकुर टुकुर तुझको देखे,
अपने बाप की पीठ पहचाने

टुकुर टुकुर दुनिया को देखे,
सोने के लिए पालना मांगे,
दुनिया के कानूनों से
खेलने को झुनझुना मांगे

माँ! कुछ तो मुँह से बोल
इस दाग़ को लोरी सुनाऊँ
बाप! कुछ तो कह,
इस दाग़ को गोद में ले लूँ

दिल के आँगन में रात हो गयी,
इस दाग़ को कैसे सुलाऊँ!
दिल की छत पर सूरज उग आया
इस दाग़ को कहाँ छुपाऊँ!

Lipi Huyi, Puti Huyi
Phir Bhi Iske Pahloo Se
Raat Ek Tukdaa Toot Gira
(Raw wall of love
wrapped, covered with putty
yet from its aspect
one piece fell in the night)

Bilkul Jaise Ek Soorakh Ho Gaya
Deewar Par Daag Padh Gaya
(A hole is created
just like stained on the wall)

Yah Daag Aaj Roo Roo Karta,
Ya Daag Aaj Honth Bisoore
Yah Daag Aaj Zid Karta Hai
Yah Daag Koi Baat Na Maane
(This stain would cry today,
or blemishes today
This stain persists today…
this scar don’t listen anything)
