Jagjit Singh Ghazal Sarakti Jaye Hai Rukh Se

Don’t know what to say about this Ghazal. This is one of those Ghazal which makes you happy inside. There are many versions and recordings of this Ghazal but I love this LIVE version of Jagjit Ji. The audience is thoroughly enjoying his mesmerizing singing.

In the movie Deedar-e-Yaar (1982) the same sang by Kishore Kumar & Lata Mangeshkar. You can check the Album version also of this Ghazal and film version in the voice of Kishore Kumar & Lata Mangeshkar below.

Sarakti Jaye Hai Rukh Se Naqab Lyrics English Translation

Saraktii Jaye Hai Rukh Se Naqaab Aahista Aahista
Nikalta Aa Raha Hai Aaftaab Aahista Aahista
(Your veil is sliding away from the face is the cover, very slowly
Coming into vision is the moon (her face), very slowly)

Jawan Hone Lage Jab Woh To Hum Se Kar Liya Pardaa
Haya Yakalakht Aayi Aur Shabab Aahista Aahista
(When she entered youthfulness then she started having veil with me
Modesty/shame came to her suddenly and youthfulness, very slowly)

Sawaal-e-Vasl Par Unako Uduu Kaa Khauf Hai Itna
Dabe Honthon Se Dete Hain Jawaab Aahista Aahista
(On the question of meeting, she has so much fear of the enemy that
She replies with clenched lips, very slowly)

Hamare Aur Tumhare Pyaar Mein Bas Fark Hai Itnaa
Idhar To Jaldii Jaldii Hai Udhar Aahista Aahista
(There is just this much difference in my and your love
This side is a rush but from your side is very slowly)

Woh Bedardii Se Sar Kaate “Ameer” Aur Main Kahuun Un Se
Huzuur Aahista Aahista, Janaab Aahista Aahista
(How unkindly she is cutting my head  Ameer (the Poet) … yet I say to her
Your highness! slowly, Your Honor! do it slowly)

Shab-e-Furkat Ka Jaagaa Hoon Farishton Ab To Sone Do
Kabhii Fursat Mein Kar Lenaa Hisaab Aahista Aahista
(Since the night of separation I am awake, angels (of Death) let me sleep now
Take account of everything later, when you have time, but slowly)
