नज़ीर बनारसी की यह ग़ज़ल मस्ती और बेफ़िक्री का जश्न है। शायर साक़ी से कहता है कि वह बादल की तरह झूमकर और लहराकर पिएगा, और मैख़ाने पर छा जाएगा। उसके सामने शराब भी है, बादल भी, जाम भी और महबूब भी, इसलिए इतराने का मौसम है। ग़म-ए-दुनिया चाहे जिधर से आए, वह साक़ी को सामने बिठाकर उसका सामना करेगा। यहाँ पीना शराब से ज़्यादा ज़िंदगी को पूरे रंग में जीने का नाम है। जगजीत सिंह की आवाज़ इस मदहोशी में नर्मी और ठहराव घोल देती है।

बादल भी है, बादा भी है, मीना भी है, तुम भी
इतराने का मौसम है अब इतराके पियेंगे

इस ग़ज़ल की सबसे दिलचस्प बात यह है कि इसका मिज़ाज उदासी वाली आम ग़ज़लों से बिल्कुल उलट है। यहाँ न शिकवा है, न शिकायत, बस बेफ़िक्री और ठाठ है। तीसरे शेर में “बादल” और “बादा” की ध्वनियाँ आपस में गूँजती हैं, मानो आसमान का नज़ारा और जाम की मदहोशी एक ही चीज़ हों।

Saqi Tere Maikhane Pe Hum Chha Ke Piyenge
(Like the clouds, swaying and surging, we shall drink;
Over your tavern, O Saqi, we shall spread like a sky and drink.)

Un Madbhari Aankhon Ko Bhi Sharma Ke Piyenge
Paimane Ko Paimane Se Takra Ke Piyenge
(Even those wine-brimmed eyes we shall drink in, shyly;
Cup clinking against cup, we shall drink.)

Badal Bhi Hai, Baada Bhi Hai, Meena Bhi Hai, Tum Bhi
Itrane Ka Mausam Hai Ab Itra Ke Piyenge
(There are clouds, there is wine, the flask, and there is you;
