This patriotic song Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja, originally the regimental quick march of the Indian National Army of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and written by Vanshidhar Shukla & composed by Ram Singh Thakuri in 1942, was banned by the British post-WWII for being seditious. The ban was lifted in August 1947, and it has since become a patriotic anthem in India. It has been reinterpreted by various musicians, including C. Ramachandra, A. R. Rahman for movie Bose – The Forgotten Hero (2004), and recently by Indraadip Dasgupta for the film Gumnaami (2019). It is now the regimental quick march of the Indian Army.
