बुढ़िया, तेरे साथ तो मैंने,
जीने की हर शह बाँटी है!

दाना पानी, कपड़ा लत्ता, नींदें और जगराते सारे,
औलादों के जनने से बसने तक, और बिछड़ने तक!
उम्र का हर हिस्सा बाँटा है

तेरे साथ जुदाई बाँटी, रूठ, सुलह, तन्हाई भी,
सारी कारस्तानियाँ बाँटी, झूठ भी और सच भी,
मेरे दर्द सहे हैं तूने,
तेरी सारी पीड़ें मेरे पोरों में से गुज़री हैं,

साथ जिये हैं
साथ मरें ये कैसे मुमकिन हो सकता है ?

दोनों में से एक को इक दिन,
दूजे को शम्शान पे छोड़ के,
तन्हा वापिस लौटना होगा ।

Aulaadon Ke Janne Se Basne Tak, Aur Bichhadne Tak!
Umr Ka Har Hissa Baanta Hai
(Food and water, clothing and shelter, peaceful sleep and sleepless nights,
From the birth of our children, to their settling down, and to their final departures!
We have shared every passing phase of this life’s long journey)

Tere Saath Judai Baanti, Rooth, Sulah, Tanhai Bhi,
Saari Kaarastaaniyaan Baanti, Jhooth Bhi Aur Sach Bhi,
Mere Dard Sahe Hain Toone,
