Hindi Kala presents Mera Kuch Saman lyrics from movie Ijaazat (1987) sung by Asha Bhosle and Music by R. D. Burman.
This song comes in the movie when Sudha and Mohinder have been happily married for some time now. But, also living in their home are vivid memories of Mohinder’s enigmatic, whimsical, poetess ex-girlfriend Maya.
To rid the house of this constant presence, Sudha sends Maya’s letters back to her. Maya writes back, asking for her memories to be returned as well:

Mera Kuch Saman Lyrics in English
Mera Kuch Samaan Tumhare Paas Pada Hai Sawan Ke Kuch Bheege Bheege Din Rakhe Hai Aur Mere Ek Khat Mein Liptee Raakh Padi Hai Woh Raakh Bujha Do, Mera Woh Samaan Lauta Do Mera Kuch Samaan…
(Some of my things are still lying with you
Some drenched monsoon days,
And a night wrapped in my one of my letters
Extinguish that night, and send these things back to me)
Patjhad Mein Kuch Patto Ke, Girne Ki Aahat
Kaano Mein Ek Baar Pehan Ke Laut Aayi Thi
Patjhad Ki Woh Shaakh Abhi Tak Kaanp Rahi Hai
Woh Shaakh Gira Do, Mera Woh Samaan Lauta Do
(The whispers of falling leaves during that autumn
i have brought back the whispers worn on my ears again.
That branch from autumn is still trembling in winds
Make that branch fall, and send these things back to me)
Mera Kuch Saman Lyrics Translation
Ek Akeli Chhatri Mein Jab Aadhe Aadhe Bheeg Rahe The
Aadhe Sookhe, Aadhe Geele, Sookha To Main Le Aayi Thi
Geela Mann Shayad Bistar Ke Paas Pada Ho
Woh Bhijwa Do, Mera Woh Samaan Lauta Do
(Remember, once when we were both getting drenched since we were sharing one umbrella…
Half the things were drenched. The things that were still dry, I brought with me
But I think I left behind my rain-soaked heart beside the bed
Send that, along with the other things I’ve left behind)
Ek Sau Solah Chaand Ki Ratein, Ek Tumhare Kaandhe Ka Til
Geeli Menhdi Ki Khusboo, Jhooth-Mooth Ke Shikwe Kuch
Jooth Mooth Ke Vaade Bhi Sab Yaad Kara Doon
Sab Bhijwa Do, Mera Woh Samaan Lauta Do
(One hundred and sixteen nights of the moon, and that one mole on your shoulder
The smell of wet mehendi. some silly complaints made of white lies
Let me also remind you about all those false promises
Return everything that’s mine, but still lying with you)
Ek Ijaazat De Do Bas, Jab Isko Dafnaungi
Main Bhi Wahin So Jaungi, Main Bhi Wahin So Jaungi
(Just grant me this one wish, that when I bury these things,
I will also breathe my last)
