Poora Din Hindi Poem by Gulzar

~ गुलज़ार | Gulzar

Mujhe Kharchee Mein Poora Ek Din, Har Roz Milta Hai
Magar Har Roz Koi Chheen Leta Hai,
Jhapat Leta Hai, Anti Se
Kabhi Kheese Se Gir Padta Hai To Girne Ki
Aahate Bhi Nahi Hoti,
Khure Din Ko Bhi Khota Samajh Ke Bhul Jaata Hoon Main
Girebaan Se Pakad Kar Mangne Wale Bhi Milte Hain
“Teri Guzri Hui Pushto Ka Karza Hai, Tujhe Kisht Chukani Hai”
Jabardasti Koi Girvi Rakh Leta Hai, Yeh Kah Kar
Abhi 2-4 Lamhe Kharch Karne Ke Liye Rakh Le,
Bakaya Umr Ke Khaate Mein Likh Dete Hain,
Jab Hoga, Hisaab Hoga
Badi Hasrat Hai Poora Ek Din Ik Baar Main
Apne Liye Rakh Loon,
Tumhare Saath Poora Ek Din
Bas Kharch Karne Ki Tamanna Hai !!

Every day I get a whole day to spend
But every day someone snatches it away,
Grabs it, from the very start
Sometimes it falls from my pocket and there’s not even a sound of its fall,
I forget even a good day, thinking it’s bad
There are also those who grab my collar and demand
“You have a debt from your past generations, you have to pay installments”
Someone forcefully mortgages it, saying
Keep it to spend for just a few moments now,
They write it down in the account of the remaining life,
When the time comes, there will be a reckoning
I have a great desire to keep a whole day for myself just once,
To spend a whole day with you
That’s all I want!
